Difference Between Chocolate Chips and Candy Melts:

If you compare the ingredients of chocolate chips and candy melts, you will see that the main ingredient for both is sugar. The second ingredient for both is oil.

If you look at the calories you will see that chocolate chips have 80 calories while candy melts have 160. At first, I thought that chocolate chips were healthier than candy melts. However, the serving sizes are different.

The serving size for white chocolate chips is 14g and for candy melts its 30g.

White chocolate chips and candy melts are equally unhealthy.

The most common varieties offered in grocery stores have similar prices.

Varieties that are made with cocoa butter are more expensive than the ones that contain oil. Cocoa butter makes for smooth and silky chocolate without adding additional flavor to the chocolate.

When you melt both you can easily see that chocolate melts are more fluid than melted chocolate chips that make a thicker mix.

You can add vegetable oil to chocolate chips before or after you melt them to thin it out so that it will be easier to dip and decorate your rods.

Once you melted the chocolate, add one teaspoon of vegetable oil at a time and mix well until the chocolate reaches the desired consistency.

For example if you want to drizzle your pretzel rods, you will need a very thin chocolate mix, otherwise you will not be able to do the drizzle.

How to Color White Melted Chocolate Chips

When I started dipping pretzel rods in white chocolate, I thought that I just needed to buy white chocolate chips or white candy melts and food coloring to make all the different colors.

However, I soon discovered that it’s not that simple. There are different types of coloring
